This company was founded by M.D. (Dudley) von Bibra in 1935.
Warren, his only son and the current Chairman, joined him in the early sixties. They enjoyed a close professional and father-son relationship, until Dudley’s passing in April 1978. From 1975 onwards, Warren oversaw the development of new dealerships in Ulverstone, Burnie, Devonport and Launceston, maintaining the six new car franchises of Nissan, Honda, Daewoo, Suzuki, Volvo and Daihatsu.
In 1998, Warren bought the Nissan, Honda and Daewoo dealership in Southport. He then purchased the Harbour Town Auto Village site in 2000 and the Holden, Honda, Kia and Suzuki franchises at Tweed Heads in 2002 and finally in February 2007 the Robina Holden dealership was purchased. Since this time, both Harbour Town Auto Village and Tweed Heads Auto Village have been sold and the Robina business is in expansion mode with two brand new showrooms being built and opened in November 2010 including Nissan, Honda and Used Cars. The Southport dealership also now represents Great Wall Motors, the first and highest volume Chinese manufacturer to build cars for Australia.
The Von Bibra Motors Group is now being managed by Warren’s son, Wade von Bibra. He intends to keep the same philosophies that have served the company so well in the past by both his Father and Grandfather. A strong customer focused culture, progressive thinking and great effort put in by both management and employees alike have been imperative to Von Bibra’s success in the past and in the future. The Von Bibra Motors Group has evolved solidly and steadily in a very competitive new and used car market. Von Bibra Motors continues to grow and are determined to ensure that it always operates on principles that keep pace with modern living. |
